Its with no surprise that the government lost the elections for the European parliament on the 07-06-2009, in just over two months time three will be general elections and this government will certainly once again loose.
This prime minister has an arrogant and biased attitude but the real cause they will loose is the flagrant abuse of the petrol companies like Galp, BP, Repsol and Cepsa.
These companies have undertaken to increase on a weekly basis the final consumer price for petrol for the motorist, sometimes twice a week!!!
This abuse has the approval of the government. The more the companies charge the more Tax the government makes.
Portugal has one of the highest petrol consumer prices in the world, this alone will further undermine the economy as the recession will worsen and demand for petrol will decrease by further 6%
Consumer confidence will reach an all time low, “the population now have the opportunity to choose a new government, one that works for the people and not the petrol companies".
It has been suggested by some sectors of the economy that the best way to avoid these corrupt public servants is a total boycott of any election, until this situation is solved and the petrol consumer prices return to acceptable values.
WorldWatch has received information that there is a civil movement entitled " NÃO AO VOTO" that has already support from various regions of Portugal and over ten thousand supporters who have confirmed that their vote is not for sale.
This explains why over 65% of the voters did not vote in the last elections for the European parliament, we interviewed in Lisbon some Portuguese and the
disappointment was the same as expressed by Mr. Santos a public servant " we are tired of the whole Socrates attitude, Galp and others keep increasing the petrol, every week, up, up, up, this must stop now, they all increase at the same time, the same amount, this is outrageous"

If Socrates and company want to remain in power then a positive attitude must be taken regarding the petrol companies Galp, BP, Repsol and Cepsa.

The European elections showed to most governments that the ruling parties have the days counted, the example WorldWatch reports
here shows just how fragile the arrogance of some governments are.
Portugal is such a case, the arrogant socialist ruling party under the leadership of Prime minister Socrates, has been given a warning in the election poles.
General elections are in three months but if this government continues to be arrogant , continues to serve the oil companies like Galp, Repsol, BP and Cepsa, allowing these companies to weekly increase final consumer prices at the pump for motorists then they will certainly loose .
Portugal faces one of the biggest unemployment in Europe, is deeply in recession, consumer confidence is at the lowest level in 30 years, has one of the worlds highest final consumer price per litre for petrol, education and health services are in ruins, corruption is strife, all this has reached the turning point.
There is a civic movement entitled "no votes" with over ten thousand followers and rising, all they want is for the oil companies to stop abusing the population with weekly increases in fuel prices..
This situation will certainly bring down any government.

The global demand

As predicted by WorldWatch some time back and now confirmed by the International Energy Agency (IEA) a 3% global crude demand is expected this year, the biggest decline since 1981.
The global demand for crude will decline as much as 2.56 million barrels per day; demand will be at 83.2 million barrels per day.
This new prediction by the IEA results in an estimated drop of 200 thousand barrels per day over the last forecast last month of Aril.
The recent crude price increase that reached the $60 mark this week, a first time since November 2008, cannot be taken as a sign of a recovery in crude prices, as the fundamentals continue weak
WorldWatch reports that OPEC also increased production in Aril by 270 thousand barrels per day.
Crude markets reacted to this news and prices dropped, New York fell 1, 62% to $57, 05 while Brent fell 1, 29% to $56, 60...
Yet Portugal continues to be rocked by the oil companies that have once more in a period of a week increased the final consumer price twice..
The players are always the same the energy companies like Galp,BP.Repsol and Cepsa continue to inflate oil prices for the consumer, Portugal is facing ever harder times as corruption at all levels is now a daily routine from the Free case to the oil companies scamming motorist with ever higher prices. Curious is the fact that elections are at hand and the population will now face the opportunity to replace existing government with one that works for the people and not the oil companies.

It's hot , your car should be cold

Last year my brothers car started making a terrible noise. He felt that he just made it home because the noise had gotten louder and louder. He could even smell and see smoke as he pulled into our driveway. Feeling lucky to have gotten home he parked the car. At this point we were not thinking anything about the auto A/C compressor.
There are a lot of things I do in life well but working on cars is not my area. For a whole year, yes a whole year, that car stayed parked thinking we were going to have an enormous repair bill.
